Student Mobile Learning Devices
Starting with the Class of 2022, Malden Catholic will begin implementing a BYOD program for student mobile learning devices. All incoming freshmen, Boys and Girls, may bring a computing device of choice. We very strongly encourage, however -- and in most cases will expect for freshmen – the use of a laptop. Freshmen without a laptop might not have easy access to some of our projected uses, printing capabilities, and software.
Returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors will continue to use the iPads they currently own. They may also bring a laptop as a supplemental device.
Microsoft Office 365
All Malden Catholic students have Office 365 accounts which provides them with access to online services such as OneDrive (cloud storage up to 1 TB), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.
Important note: You do not need to purchase Microsoft Office. As part of our license agreement with Microsoft, all students can download and install Microsoft Office 2016 onto their laptops at no cost.
G Suite for Education (formerly Google Apps for Education)
All incoming freshmen will also have G Suite for Education accounts which provides them with access to online services such as Google Drive (unlimited cloud storage), Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.
Classroom Web Portal - LancerLink
All Malden Catholic students have accounts to access LancerLink. LancerLink is Malden Catholic’s classroom web portal which provides real-time integration with teachers’ gradebooks, classroom pages (homework, resources, etc.) and student information. Students can view current grades and scores for their classes on interactive dashboards. LancerLink activation instructions for student accounts will be emailed to parents early in July.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Incoming freshman will be assigned their own single sign-on credentials that will consist of a user ID (Malden Catholic email address) and unique password. Students will use their Single Sign-On credentials to log into both their Microsoft Office 365 and G Suite for Education accounts. Students will also use the same user ID to log into LancerLink. While students can select their own LancerLink password, it is highly recommended that they use their MC-provided password. Fewer things to remember = fewer things to forget.
Note: An email will be sent to parents in early July containing the Single Sign-On credentials for their student along with instructions for the student to activate their new Malden Catholic email account.
