Senior Events and News - Class of 2022

Malden Catholic Commencement Overview

The Class of 2021 – 2022 will honor and celebrate the graduates from both the Boys Division and Girls Division at Malden Catholic. This is a very special year since it is the time that both boys and girls will graduate from the school. With this in mind, it is very important to establish the structure, procedures and new traditions for the two Divisions of the graduating class.

 

Girls Division Awards Ceremony - Monday, May 16

The Girls Division will host a separate Senior Awards Ceremony.  Senior Awards will be given along with other corresponding recognition. The Girls Division Salutatorian will speak at this ceremony.

 

Boys Division Awards Ceremony - Tuesday, May 17

The Boys Division will host a separate Senior Awards Ceremony.  Senior Awards will be given along with other corresponding recognition. The Boys Division Salutatorian will speak at this ceremony.

 

Combined Baccalaureate Mass Service - Friday, May 20

The Boys Division and the Girls Division will attend a combined Baccalaureate Mass Service.

 

Combined Commencement Ceremony - Saturday, May 21

The Boys Division and the Girls Division will have a combined Malden Catholic Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will be comprised of the following:

·       Girls Division Valedictorian Speech

·       Boys Division Valedictorian Speech

·       Student Biographies

·       Presentation of Diplomas

·       Major School Awards

 

Senior Class Traditions

It is important that both the Boys Division and the Girls Division develop, cultivate and maintain senior traditions.  The events, activities and practices listed below are a partial list that will build over the year and culminate in a combined MC Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2021 - 2022.

Senior Advisors

There will be a Senior Advisor (faculty and/or staff member) for the Girls Division and for the Boys Division. All special events for Seniors will be coordinated by and organized through the Senior Advisors and the MC Student Council.  

 

Graduation Attire

Detailed information regarding MC graduation will be provided to Seniors by the Academic Administration.

 

Young men will be measured for tuxedos at school and are expected to rent and to wear the approved school tuxedo - white jacket, white shirt, black bow tie and black pants along with black dress shoes. More information will be provided during the school year. 

 

Young women will wear white or ivory dresses. Dresses must adhere to the following guidelines and all dresses must be brought to school, tried on and approved by designated faculty members:

·      Color: white or ivory (no accent colors)

·      Length: floor length or classic tea length-defined as extending to bottom of calf, 4” above ankle

·      Front neckline: should not be revealing (no cleavage visible)

·      Back neckline: back of the dress should be no lower than 4-6 inches above the waist.

·      Sheerness: dresses may not be sheer. 

·      Beading must be clear or the same color as the dress.

·      Cut-outs and/or mesh inserts are not permitted.

·      Dress shoes must be worn and match the dress: white, ivory, or nude dress shoes.

·      Heel may be no greater than 2”. No boots, sneakers, flip flops, slippers, or sandals are permitted.

·      Tattoos and piercings must be covered up.

 

If a young woman chooses not to wear a dress, pant suits or white business suits are acceptable. The suits will need to be approved as well.

 

Hair color for both girls and boys for graduation should be a natural hair color and should not be distracting in any way.

 

12th Grade Family Meeting

A 12th Grade Family meeting will be held in the fall to review the graduation plans and answer any questions.
