Principal Smith's Reflection 5.31.26
As we conclude another remarkable year at Malden Catholic, I would like to take a moment to reflect with gratitude, pride, and optimism on all that our community has accomplished together this year. It has been one of tremendous growth and achievement, and none of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of our families, faculty, staff, and students.

We especially celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of the Class of 2026. Together, the 204 students in this class applied to more than 340 colleges and universities across 43 states and several countries, including Spain, Ireland, England, Italy, France, Switzerland, Australia, and Canada. Of the 204 graduates, 195 will attend four-year colleges and universities, including institutions such as Harvard University, Georgetown University, the University of Notre Dame, Boston University, the University of Virginia, Trinity College, the College of the Holy Cross, Michigan State University, Bentley University, Villanova University, New York University, Hamilton College, Louisiana State University, and the United States Naval Academy, among many others. Collectively, the Class of 2026 earned more than $38 million in four-year scholarship awards, an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects both their hard work and the strength of our academic and spiritual community. We congratulate our graduates and their families on this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the world!

As an educator and administrator, graduation is always a proud moment. But as a parent of a graduate this year, this commencement carries an even deeper meaning for me personally. In many ways, my daughter Katelyn was raised within the Malden Catholic community. Along with her sister Julia’24, they sold 50/50 raffle tickets in the stands while I served as Head Football Coach. Throughout the years, Malden Catholic has been a central part of her life and our family’s journey. Watching her grow into the remarkable young woman she has become fills me and my wife with immense pride, but also with the bittersweet realization that we will miss her as she begins this exciting new chapter in college. Like many parents in our community, I understand both the joy and emotion that comes with watching your child graduate and take their next steps toward independence.

This year also marked the successful inaugural year of our 7th and 8th Grade Division under the leadership of Assistant Principal Ian Snyder. The energy, enthusiasm, and growth within the division have been inspiring to witness, and we are excited about the strong foundation that has been established for the future of our school community.

I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Assistant Principals Robert Gregory and Jeanne Lynch-Galvin, whose leadership and teamwork were instrumental in making this year such a success. Together with our faculty and staff, they helped guide Malden Catholic through a year that included the largest high school enrollment our school has experienced in more than 20 years. Their commitment to our students and mission continues to strengthen every aspect of our community.

Most importantly, thank you to our parents and families for your trust in our co-divisional model and in our mission to educate and develop the whole child; mind, body, and spirit. Your partnership and belief in Catholic education allow us to continue building a community rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service.

As summer begins, I encourage all members of the Malden Catholic community to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time with family and friends. We have much to be grateful for, and even more to look forward to in the year ahead. With a shared commitment to our mission, we eagerly anticipate another successful and inspiring school year together. Thank you once again for being such an important part of the Malden Catholic family. May God bless you and your families with a safe, restful, and joyful summer.
