Malden, MA (April 12, 2019) – During our annual Easter Prayer Service, Bruce Murison from Mission of Deeds visited to accept a check for the donations raised by Malden Catholic students for the Buy-a-Bed Campaign.
This campaign, as Murison said, is crucial because it helps Mission of Deeds secure the funds needed to purchase beds for those in need.
During his speech to the student body, faculty and staff, Murison commended Malden Catholic for not only raising the most money out of every participating group, but for doubling the previously set record for most donations.
Malden Catholic was able to donate $4,040 for the Buy-a-Bed Campaign, which sets a new record.
“We didn’t think it would be possible to get a new record, especially one that doubled our previous record,” said Murison, “but now we know not to underestimate the Lancers when they’re in action!”
The campaign was promoted through theology classes, with Mr. Batista and Mr. Casey providing some special incentives for classes to reach their goals. When class goals were achieved, Mr. Batista grew a moustache and Mr. Casey spent a day teaching as Marvel supervillain Thanos – complete with purple paint!
