MALDEN CATHOLIC ANNOUNCES THE RETIREMENT OF SHERRY ENDICOTT, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT FOR ATHLETICS, AND THE ADDITION OF ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, MATTHEW BLAIR
MALDEN, MA (June 3, 2021)– Malden Catholic’s Administrative Assistant for Athletics, Sherry Endicott, announces her retirement after 20 years of service and MC Director of Athletics, William Raycraft, names Matthew Blair as MC’s new Assistant Athletic Director.
For the past 20 years, Sherry Endicott P’99, 01, 04 and 06, has served Malden Catholic in many roles throughout the school. She began working at the front desk and eventually joined the Athletics Office as the Administrative Assistant supporting the programs by managing transportation, correspondence and uniform/equipment distribution. As a result of her dedication to the school, over the years Endicott has earned the MC Adult Athletic Service Award, the Theodore James Ryken Award and received special recognition at MC’s 2021 Baccalaureate Mass.
"It has been a privilege to be part of such historic institution with an emphasis on excellence and the Xaverian values," Endicott commented. "I want to express my appreciation and love for the MC community. I have greatly enjoyed the support and friendship of the students, faculty and staff over the past 20 years.”
In addition, Malden Catholic’s Athletic Director, William Raycraft, has named Matthew Blair as the Assistant Athletic Director. Matthew Blair has spent the past twelve years in the field education. Throughout his career in education, he has coached both boys and girls in various levels of athletics including basketball, lacrosse, football and wrestling. In addition to being involved with several championship programs during his coaching career he has also coached in the CHaD NH East-West All-Star Football Game and the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl All-Star games.
According to Blair, “I could not be more excited about joining the Malden Catholic Athletics Department. I have been very impressed with the prestigious programs the school has built and the caliber of athletes that are at the school.”
During his time at Windham High School, Matthew also established the Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) which consisted of leaders from all sports who set positive examples for students through meaningful school and community service projects and developed and integrated educational programs to assist student development.
Following his undergraduate and graduate years at Rivier University, Matthew obtained his bachelor's degree in Human Development and earned his master’s degree in School Counseling. Matthew is also certified as a registered athletic administrator with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and is pursuing his Certified Athletic Administrator level. In addition to being an educator and coach, Matthew has worked with student athletes academically and as a learning specialist. He has both college and high school athletic experience working with several programs and assisted in hosting state tournament events. He has also led several extra-curricular clubs and intramural sports at multiple levels.
