Tufts Students Speak to MC Girls about Studying Engineering

Students from Tufts University spoke to members of the MC Girls Division this past week to provide them with an insightful look into what it’s like to study engineering in college. They shared their experiences, discussed their classes, and even introduced SWENext - a Society of Women Engineers chapter for high school students designed to foster interest and involvement in engineering. Their goal was to inspire them to explore the world of engineering and answered questions about pursuing this exciting field in college.

Erin Smail, a proud Malden Catholic alum and freshman at Tufts, is planning to major in Chemical Engineering. Erin’s current coursework includes Frontiers in Chemistry, a dynamic speaker series introducing students to research opportunities in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering, and Consumer Engineering, where she’s been engaging in redesign projects using human-centered design principles.

Campbell Braun, a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering, brings a wealth of academic and practical experience. Last summer, Campbell interned with a consulting company for the MBTA, contributing to electrical plans and data analysis for the Boston Red and Green Lines.

Subhangi Pal, a freshman majoring in Computer Science, is exploring her field through her EN1 elective, Exploring Computer Science, where she’s developing skills in drawing histograms and performing data analysis.

We’re thrilled to have had these accomplished students share their journeys and insights with us.
