Sophia Almeida’25 for Compassion
Sophia is a great role model to younger students and deserves to be recognized for her compassion. In a quiet way, Sophia shows a care and concern for those around her - whether friends, classmates, or staff. Sophia has a way of making people feel seen and valued, showcasing the value of compassion.
Serena Lama’27 for Humility
Serena enthusiastically volunteered to help when help was needed. On October 19, she volunteered her time to learn how to weave mats with Phragmites, which was used to create a wall for a Wetu. A Wetu is a seasonal dwelling that was built with tree barks, leaves, vines and other things from nature. Wetus were built by different tribes during hunting seasons. Serena also volunteered her time to help with the Indigenous Day Celebration, which was hosted by Malden Reads, Malden River Works and the Mayor’s Office! Serena was one of 2 MC volunteers who assisted with the set-up, children’s activities, and the clean-up. She dedicated her entire weekend in a selfless way to learn and grow her understanding of Indigenous Culture while helping others. She embodies Plus Ultra.
Ryan Colameta’28 for Simplicity
Ryan is an excellent model of the values of trust and zeal, but it is the value of simplicity that makes this young man standout. Ryan is always prepared and ready for class. He is not afraid to mess up or ask difficult questions, and his enthusiasm for learning cannot go unnoticed.
Dominic Russo’26 for Trust
Dom exemplified what it means to be a loyal, compassionate, and selfless friend to a classmate when they needed it most. Having someone's back in a time of need is often intimidating when many people are watching but he had the courage to stand up for his friend. This action embodies the mission of Malden Catholic because of Dom's willingness to use his voice in a deliberate and effective manner to advocate for friend, inspiring others to do the same.
Sharon DelGenio for Zeal
Mrs. DelGenio embodies the spiritual value of the Xaverian charism of Zeal. Her unwavering commitment to Malden Catholic, boundless energy, and genuine care for others is certainly Plus Ultra. Mrs. DelGenio consistently holds the school and college counseling department together as they run in 100 different directions. Her lead role in the MC admissions visits program and college fair ensures complete success. Mrs. DelGenio’s interactions with students, parents, alumni, and staff are always warm and helpful. Sharon is continually willing to lend a helping hand to our school community characterized by her attendance, enthusiastic help, and participation at many Malden Catholic school, athletic and community events.
