December Winners- PLUS ULTRA AWARDS
Each month, faculty and staff are asked to nominate students, faculty, or staff who they feel have done something to personify one of the five Spiritual Values of Humility, Simplicity, Compassion, Trust, and Zeal. The idea is to recognize members of our community who go More Beyond and exemplify our motto Plus Ultra. Malden Catholic is proud to recognize the following people for going More Beyond.
This month’s Plus Ultra Award recipients are:
Leslie Manson-Hing for Compassion
Leslie Manson-Hing has consistently gone above and beyond her regular duties to support the MC community. Whether it’s the countless hours spent behind the scenes preparing for our Open Houses and shadow days or chipping in to help with alumni visits and much more, Leslie always is ready to serve. Recently she took the lead on the International Student Thanksgiving Celebration on short notice to help a colleague without any hesitation. Lelsie stays late on many nights and her work goes a long way in making all guests at MC feel welcomed and comfortable when they arrive. Leslie is a shining example of what it means to live "Plus Ultra!
Megan Hayes’26 for Simplicity (Revere)
Megan exemplifies the value of simplicity. Her enthusiasm for class and her willingness to volunteer to read and offer her perspective comes easy. She is also a person that deeply cares for her classmates.
Anthony Nalen’27 for Zeal (Tewksbury)
Anthony has an outstanding attitude on a daily basis. He gives amazing effort, asks questions, and is always on task. He is a pleasure to have in class and his joyous outlook on life is great for our community.
Josh Mira Merhcan’28 for Humility (Revere)
John is a terrific young man who does the right thing even when no one is looking. Not only is he the best behaved student in his math class, he takes time after every class to fix the desks and chairs and neaten up the classroom.
Ruth Fedna’25 for Trust (Malden)
Ruth Fedna is always so unbelievably positive when I see her. She is always giving out compliments to her peers, and, as a result, is lifting them up. She also is always willing to help out with whatever she can. I don’t have Ruth as a student, but I have witnessed many of her interactions with peers and teachers and it is always so nice to see that she is such a positive person who supports others and builds them up.
