Each year, the 13 Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools (XBSS) across the United States come together to celebrate a special tradition honoring the history of the Congregation of the Brothers and the impact of our schools. Known as Founder’s Week, this observance commemorates the passing of Theodore James Ryken, the Founder of the Xaverian Brothers, on November 26, 1871. It culminates with the Feast of St. Francis Xavier on December 3, named after the renowned Spanish missionary who inspired the Congregation. This year, Founder’s Week took place from Sunday, December 1, to Sunday, December 8.
At Malden Catholic, the week concluded with the St. Francis Xavier Feast Mass, celebrated by Bishop Barbosa from the Archdiocese of Boston.
2024 Ryken Award Recipient – Mr. Domenic Cacciapuoti
On the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, every Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School honors an adult member of their community with the Theodore James Ryken Award. This prestigious recognition is given to someone who exemplifies Gospel values and shows steadfast dedication to the vision of the Xaverian Founder and the mission of the school.
This year, Malden Catholic proudly recognizes Mr. Domenic (DJ) Cacciapuoti, a person whose character and servant leadership have profoundly impacted our school community.
Mr. Cacciapuoti received multiple nominations from his colleagues, who highlighted his dedication and leadership:
“He is a great leader who motivates and inspires his team to do their best work. He handles conflicts and resolves issues quickly and efficiently.”
“He is a devoted member of our community, always ready to serve with enthusiasm. Approachable and compassionate, he steps in wherever needed without hesitation. He is humble and truly lives out our mission. His spirit is Plus Ultra—More Beyond! Our community is truly blessed to have this faithful servant.”
As Theodore James Ryken observed, true commitment to values is revealed in the "ordinary, unspectacular flow of everyday life." Mr. Cacciapuoti exemplifies this truth through his unwavering dedication to the Xaverian Charism, consistently demonstrating the spiritual values of simplicity, humility, compassion, trust, and zeal.
With heartfelt gratitude, the Malden Catholic community is honored to present the 2024 Theodore James Ryken Award to Mr. Domenic (DJ) Cacciapuoti.
