January 2025 Plus Ultra Awards
January Winners- PLUS ULTRA AWARDS
Each month, faculty and staff are asked to nominate students, faculty, or staff who they feel have done something to personify one of the five Spiritual Values of Humility, Simplicity, Compassion, Trust, and Zeal. The idea is to recognize members of our community who go More Beyond and exemplify our motto Plus Ultra. Malden Catholic is proud to recognize the following people for going More Beyond.
This month’s Plus Ultra Award recipients are:
Simplicity - Tseten Karpoche ‘28
Tseten is an example of simplicity. Tseten is great about embracing the essentials and staying focused on what truly matters. Her straightforward attitude helps to reinforce those around her to not stress over inconsequential matters but to direct your attention where it is most needed.
Humility - Emmanuel Zapata Valencia ‘28
Emmanuel is a great example of the Xaverian value of humility. In his own way, Emmanuel has been a dedicated student and has consistently achieved in his classes from the very start of the school year. However, in keeping with his humility, he continues to work hard and does so without the goal of recognition.
Compassion - Joseph Laudanno ‘25
Joe exemplifies compassion in how he treats everyone he encounters. In the classroom or otherwise, Joe sees where his peers are coming from, always puts respect first, and provides support to the MC community. Joe also stepped up to tutor a fellow lancer who was struggling in class. Joe’s mentorship has allowed the student to achieve new levels of success.
Trust - Catherine Crane ‘25
Catherine has been a fully-involved member of the MC community, taking part in sports, clubs, and a demanding course load. She has remained committed to the school community, trusting her classmates, teachers, and coaches. In doing so, she has become an example for the underclass students to look to and follow in the building.
Zeal - Mr. Matt O’Neil '99
Especially through admissions season, but also evident anytime of the school year, Mr. O’Neil continuously showcases a zeal for the school, its students, and all prospective students. His enthusiasm and support for MC is one of the reasons he does such a good job as Admissions Director.
