September Winners- PLUS ULTRA AWARDS

Each month, faculty and staff are asked to nominate students, faculty, or staff who they feel have done something to personify one of the five Spiritual Values of Humility, Simplicity, Compassion, Trust, and Zeal. The idea is to recognize members of our community who go More Beyond and exemplify our motto Plus Ultra. Malden Catholic is proud to recognize the following people for going More Beyond.

Emma Malarkey’28 for Compassion

Emma has served as the captain of the girls varsity soccer team and has been incredible. She truly puts the team before herself and doesn't think twice about it. She is a strong leader and teammate but is ALWAYS humble about it.

Grace Velasquez’28 for Simplicity

Grace is an example of simplicity. Grace is great about embracing the essentials and staying focused on what truly matters. Her straightforward attitude helps to reinforce to those around her to not stress over inconsequential matters but to direct your attention where it is most needed.

Edwin Cayas II’29 for Zeal

Edwin has demonstrated zeal within Biology classes, within the hallways, and within Study Hall periods. Every interaction I have had with him has been met with a great level of passion and enthusiasm for his work, and it's clear that he's proud to wear the MC logo on his shirt each day. In addition, I have observed him share this same level of passion and enthusiasm with many of his classmates as well.

Julian Cuper’26 for Humility

Julian has been a fully-involved member of the MC community, taking part in sports, clubs, and a demanding course load. He has remained committed to the school community, trusting his classmates and teachers. In doing so, he has become an example for the underclass students to look to and follow in the building.

Anthony Addonizio’30 for Leadership

Anthony has demonstrated through his actions and his words that he is a model of leadership among the 7th and 8th grade. He is quick to offer his help to friends in need, respectful to his teachers, and always on task in the classroom. When a classmate was injured, Anthony went out of his way to support this classmate by carrying textbooks and assisting throughout the day. After a prolonged absence for the other student, Anthony continued to provide help to this friend by providing helpful insight on how best to navigate the 7/8 environment.

Mrs. Amanda Drezek for Trust

Mrs. Drezek exemplifies trust in every aspect of her work as a counselor. She consistently creates a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable sharing their struggles, knowing their concerns will be treated with respect and confidentiality. Her calm demeanor makes her someone students can rely on. Whether she is guiding students through academic decisions or helping them navigate personal challenges, Amanda’s integrity and professionalism shine through. This was witnessed at the Archbishop's Mass when a student needed help. Mrs. Drezek walked out of Mass, went over to the student, spoke with him, and made the student feel comfortable.
