MC Students Serve in Lazarus Ministry Funeral
St. Anthony Shrine’s Lazarus Ministry provides free funerals and burials for those who die alone, including the homeless and individuals with no known next-of-kin. Services include a Mass of Christian Burial, grave space with a modest marker, clothing and flowers for the deceased, and ongoing prayers from the community.
Recently, a local funeral home delivered a casket to the Shrine, where Malden Catholic seniors served as pallbearers, carrying the deceased into the sanctuary.
The ministry welcomes all, regardless of faith or background, and honors those it serves with continued remembrance, ensuring no one is laid to rest alone.
