January Plus Ultra Awards

Each month, faculty and staff are asked to nominate students, faculty, or staff who they feel have done something to personify one of the five Spiritual Values of Humility, Simplicity, Compassion, Trust, and Zeal. The idea is to recognize members of our community who go More Beyondand exemplify our motto Plus Ultra. Malden Catholic is proud to recognize the following people for going More Beyond.

Compassion – Beatrice Brocca ‘29

Beatrice went above and beyond when completing thank you notes for our donors. Her attention and effort was apparent with her thoughtful messages and exquisite handwriting.

Humility- Veer Garad ‘27

XBSS schools understand humility as an "attitude that demands action in loving service" and one that "inspires a sense of connectedness" in a school community. Always eager to listen to others, assist peers who are struggling, and put the needs of the community before his own, Veer exemplifies humility in his daily approach to scholarship, leadership, and community service. He always answers the call to service and makes the most of every opportunity to share his gifts and his joy with others.

Simplicity- John Van Campen ‘28

Modest, consistent, and a man of integrity, John shows up every day with an attitude of true simplicity, one that embraces the "common, ordinary, unspectacular flow of everyday life" at Malden Catholic. John encounters every opportunity as a formative one - the triumphs, challenges, and setbacks alike - and brings a Xaverian spirit of appreciation and gratitude to all that he does.

Trust – Liv Lopresti ‘26

Liv inspires trust through her warmth and competence. She has never missed a lunchtime prayer, and she helps others pay attention to when they are scheduled to lead prayer. Liv has become an example for the underclass students to look to and follow in the building.

Zeal- Danielle Sheehy

Mrs. Sheehy is an exemplar of the XBSS and MC values. From supporting the MC community through diligent attendance records to welcoming guests at 50 Crystal or assisting the 7/8 operation, Mrs. Sheehy does it all with a smile on her face. Her positive attitude and proactive thinking ensure that we all are prepared for the day ahead of us.

Leadership- DJ Camps-Campins ‘30

From his first day at MC, DJ has consistently demonstrated his leadership ability and potential. His commitment to his schoolwork while balancing athletic pursuits is unparalleled among the 7/8 division. When faced with difficult decisions, DJ always chooses the right path and does his best to support his peers in making the same choice. I look forward to seeing DJ step into the leadership roles I know he will fill.
