About Malden Catholic. Malden Catholic is a Xaverian Brothers sponsored, Catholic, college preparatory, coeducational school serving students in grades 7 through 12, located just outside of Boston in Malden, Massachusetts. Founded in 1932, the school is known for its distinctive co-divisional model, strong relationships, and commitment to forming young men and women of faith, integrity, and purpose. With 95% of students participating in athletics and co curricular activities, the program plays a significant role in shaping school culture and community engagement. The athletic department continues to grow, supported by a committed coaching staff and significant recent investment in facilities and resources. Most notably, Malden Catholic recently completed a $45 million capital campaign, including $15 million dedicated to new athletic facilities such as a 30,000 sq ft indoor turf field and a 3,000 sq ft weight room.
The Director of Athletics reports directly to the President and will have the opportunity to build upon this strong foundation while advancing a mission-centered and highly competitive athletic program.
Position Overview. Malden Catholic seeks a strategic, mission-driven Director of Athletics to lead a comprehensive and rapidly growing athletic program. This senior leadership role oversees all aspects of athletics across grades 7 through 12, including staffing, scheduling, compliance, facilities, and program development. The Director will play a central role in shaping student experience, strengthening program alignment, and guiding the continued evolution of athletics at Malden Catholic.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the athletic program, including personnel, operations, and logistics
- Supervise and evaluate coaches and athletic staff
- Develop schedules for varsity, junior varsity, freshman, and middle school teams
- Ensure compliance with MIAA, league, and school regulations
- Manage facilities, equipment, and game day operations
- Develop and manage the athletic budget
- Collaborate with school leadership on planning, policy, and strategic initiatives
- Support admissions, marketing, and community engagement efforts
- Develop and oversee intramural and summer athletic programs
- Manage athletics social media accounts and team-specific accounts

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Coaching experience preferred
- Broad knowledge of athletics and student development

Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director

Attend training and learn how to use ArbiterGame Resources, the scheduling platform used by the MIAA.

Assist and support the inventory of athletic equipment and supplies.

Manage budget tracking (records, receipts, concessions, etc.).

Organize and support special athletic events such as homecoming or the athletic hall of fame dinner.

Serve as coordinator for special student athletic events such as Senior Nights, Class Reunion, and Senior Week.

Serve as the liaison and primary point of contact for the Athletic Office.

Manage and coordinate the Athletic Director’s calendar, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and athletic events.

Assist in maintaining an efficient and well-organized daily and seasonal schedule.

Coordinate all aspects of Athletic Department meetings and events, including logistics and communication.

Communicate effectively on a daily basis with coaches, administrators, staff, and external vendors.

Coordinate transportation for all athletic teams for away games and events.

Create and maintain comprehensive filing systems to support efficient office operations.
-
Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision.

Answer and screen calls; relay pertinent information and respond to inquiries in a professional manner.

Provide administrative support to the Athletic Director and other Athletic Department personnel.

Assist with and attend school and athletic events as needed to represent the Athletic Office.

Review, process, and reconcile expense reports to ensure timely reimbursement.
-
Evaluate existing procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Manage incoming mail and respond independently when appropriate, exercising discretion and sound judgment.

Collaborate with Facilities and colleagues to maintain a professional and organized work environment.

High school diploma required; additional education preferred.
-
Have a demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and to accurately collect and enter data.

Prior experience in administrative or office support required; experience in a school setting preferred.

Experience supporting an Athletic Department is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), internet applications, and social media platforms.

The School Counselor will:
• Perform as part of a comprehensive school and college counseling department. Advise and counsel students regarding academic, educational, college/career and social and emotional concerns.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling to help students build skills, coping strategies and develop resilience to manage academic, personal, social, emotional and situational barriers to learning.
• Monitor student academic, social/emotional progress and provide interventions as needed to ensure academic success.
• Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, including mental health crises, family emergencies, and other urgent issues.
• Consult and collaborate with school staff, families and outside agencies to develop plans to meet student needs.
• Refer students to appropriate community resources and providers as needed.
• Educate students in areas of social emotional awareness including healthy relationships, conflict resolution, self-esteem, substance use, and other concerns.
